Thoughts on feminism and pensions
Well its a good job I married an older man or else I wouldn't be retired now. It looks as though the government is actually disadvantaging women , not a new idea, with the concept of delaying pensions still further. Some women simply won't have enough to live on and given that the majority of low paid low status jobs are done by women they will be in permanent poverty. These women will be forced to continue working in what are often backbreaking jobs like cleaning and care work putting their health at risk and affecting their life expectancy. Is this then the feminist backlash we hear about? True the feminist movement gained us some important things like being able to be financially independant. Women for a long time were denied mortgages, bank accounts and credit agreements but we lost some important things in the process like pension rights.

Virgin blogger at 60 (nearly)
Here we go then my first blog Insights and experiences from a nearly 60 and the new things I try and that happen to me in the exciting town of Melton Mowbray. Today was a great hairdo at Lambchop at £20 cheaper than my recent experiences in Toni and Guy ta Northallerton - equally good hairdo but why so much more money? and then the builders starting my new conservatory today - one with six pack and taoos one with soggy18 pack and blood sweat glands. Hopefully a new meditation room (oldies drinking den) will be the result.
